Three points and the Baker Cup stays on Alderney

The Nomads 3 – 1 Guernsey Rangers res

16th November 2024

Match sponsor Ros Whittome

The Nomads returned to winning ways and captured back the Baker Cup following last seasons defeat, thanks to goals from Blondie, Josh Concanen & Jermaine Parry.

Josh McCulloch was welcomed back and partnered Dante up front, and it was their pressing that caused the ball to fall to Blondie who composed and neatly finished inside 4 mins! Quite rare for Alderney to score an early goal!

The first half was dominated by the Nomads as they attached the arsenal end, shots rained in on the Rangers goal and over the bar on a few occasions from Dante, Blondie forces a good save and McCulloch hits the bar with a great header, chances that could have taken the game away from Rangers. Josh Concanen then makes it 2-0 again another composed finish from just inside the box, the ball came to from a corner (This was captured on a facebook video @alderneynomads, just on the stroke of half time. A half the Nomads should be leading by more, JT was often a lone figure in the home goal.

Half Time Alderney 2 – 0 Guernsey Rangers Res

The 2nd half was a different story a youthful Rangers team began creating plenty of chances, the woodwork was hit again and JT made a series of fantastic saves, keeping the scoreline 2-0 for the time being, Alderney’s man of the match John Adamson made a superb goaline clearance, throwing his body at the advancing ball hit with vigour and accuracy, preventing the net from bulging! Then Carre concedes a penalty following another Rangers advance, an adjudged trip, a well taken penalty 2-1

JT was so close to saving the direct strike. It did spur the Nomads into action, shots again from Dante, Josh McCulloch (just wide) then Parry broke clear down the right hand side and cooly chipped the advancing keeper to seal the victory, a quality finish that would grace the Premier league !
