19.10.24 Rovers 2nd Team Vs Alderney Nomads

Match report – Lancaster League Div1

Rovers 2nd team  4 – 2 Alderney Nomads

For the 2nd consecutive weekend, the Nomads travelled to Guernsey with a visit to Port Soif, hoping to continue their unbeaten start to the season, missing from the team were Sean Maloy & NEW father Jermaine Parry who was on other duties!

The game started similar to many others with the Nomads conceding an early goal after only 3 mins a cross evaded the defense with un marked players, a shot that beat JT. After a scrappy start the Nomads began to get into the game and forced their first corner on the quarter, the ball fell to Le Poullain who’s shot ricochet onto the crossbar. The away team were beginning to create some threat with Connor & Blackham combining well working hard and looking lively, but Rovers looked more like scoring as they attacked slicing through Alderney’s midfield. Alderney’s equaliser came when the ball fell to Lawrence who was just deemed onside, a one on one with the home keeper resulted in a very neat chipped finish. As the half drew to a close the Nomads looked the most comfortable, Carre completing some crucial crunching tackles on the Rovers forwards. A few speculative shots were easily gathered up by JT.

Half Time Alderney 1-1 Rovers 2nd team

As the 2nd half started JT was soon in the action completing a good save to deny Rovers taking the lead, Jack White playing up front who replaced Lawrence had a great chance to make it 1-2

A super cross by Blackham found white in the six-yard box but his left foot evaded him. Concanen had a shot, and the Nomads were looking quite comfortable then against the run of play they found themselves 2-1 down, Carre was booked, with a few heads dropped a little indiscipline was starting to show and it soon became 3-1 a shot across JT that went in off the post. Club captain Adamson found himself in the sin bn for 10mins for showing some frustration aimed at the referee, his father Alan quickly followed in the book!

Blackham did pull a goal back scoring following a one on one and there was time for the Nomads to seek an equaliser, but with five to go Rovers wrapped it up 4-2 and therefore ending the Nomads unbeaten start to the season.
