Alderney Nomads 1 – St Martins Reserves 1

NOMADS DRAW FIRST MATCH OF SEASON.
AFTER a major rainstorm in mid- morning the sun broke through the heavy clouds in the afternoon and Alderney Nomads went into the first game of the season against Guernsey’s St Martins reserves in the Lancaster Division One. At the start of the match a one minutes ‘ silence was observed for Nomads long- term supporter 85- year- old George Bunn who passed recently. In the first half, the youthful St Martin’s team were held off by the more experienced Alderney side and failed to take advantage of the strong cross-wind blowing in their favour. Jermaine Parry put the home team ahead with a neat cross in the second half but St Martins mounted a concerted effort near the end of the match and slipped an equalizer past Alderney’s veteran keeper ‘JT’ to make it a draw.
