Alderney Nomads 4 – 1 Bels Res
The Nomads first home fixture of the new season saw them welcome Belgrave Wanderers res to the Arsenal ground, on a dry, cloudy but relative wind free afternoon.
The team welcomed back Owen Carre, who is now back to full fitness having missed the last two seasons, and making his home debut Andrew Mills sponsored by Jack’s Alderney. The Nomads started brightly with Olly Taylor winning the first corner, the delivery found Parry whose header took a deflection and appeared to hit the net, we all thought a goal. However, it wasn’t deemed and play continued much to the bemusement of the 100 + Alderney supporters. The first quarter was fairly even with the Nomads restrictive to a few speculative shots Walker trying to find his range. Then two quick goals that set the tone for the home teams’ performance, an excellent Blondie header followed by some neat skill and shot by young forward Taylor. Shortly after a cracking volley hit the top of Bels net Blondie thought he bagged his 2nd of the game, however it was ruled out again as the ball previous was ruled out of touch.
The long throws by Poullain were causing problems for the Bels defence both sides of the pitch, often the flick On’s were won by Taylor and half chances created with the Nomads but without forcing the away keeper Fern into making a save.

Half Time Alderney 2-0 Bels res
Debutant Mills, who had a decent first half on the left made way for, and a welcome return forward Owen Carre. Not long after the half started and a 3rd for the Nomads a neat finish by Walker neatly chipping the advancing keeper Fern on 52mins 3-1. Bels did have a chance soon after and should have scored a free header from a free kick went over, Carre was making an immediate impact wide on the righthand side, he had the beating of Bels left back and made a few excellent crosses into the opposition box. On a counter Bels then hit the bar, on 60mins a sweet shot by Bels no9 Simeon Marsh beat Gillingham 3-1. The home side were rocked by that and disappointed to concede, as the game progressed eventual man of the match Parry who commanded the midfield assisted with a through ball to Carre, another neat finish and flick of the ball over the keeper 4-1 and wrapped the game up. The Nomads advancing for more glory on the goal tally, found John Adamson breaking through from midfield, he was brought down by the Ferm inside the box and what the supporters all thought a stone wall penalty. However, a free kick just on the edge of the 18yard box was awarded? Walker direct shot ended just going over the bar. Bells keeper was sin binned for something he said to the ref. A couple more efforts by Connor and Mills before the final whistle, a comfortable home win for the Nomads makes it two out of two, with sterner tests to come.
