Life on Alderney is a little different to most places — and so is our football. With just over 2,000 people on the island, running a competitive team in the Priaulx League is always a challenge, but it’s one we’re proud to take on.
This summer, we’ve made headlines by inviting players from outside the island to come and join us. It’s not the usual recruitment call — moving here means becoming part of a small, close community as well as pulling on the Alderney shirt. The story has been picked up by both ITV News and the BBC, and it’s fair to say it’s sparked plenty of interest.
One player who’s already taken the plunge is 18-year-old Callum McCarthy, who’s spending the season here with us. For him, it’s a chance to play regular football while enjoying everything Alderney has to offer — from the natural beauty and wildlife to the pace of island life.
For us as a club, bringing in new faces is about more than numbers. It’s about building a stronger squad, sharing our love of the game, and showing that football can thrive even in the most unlikely places. Alderney FC has always been about community spirit, and we’re excited to see how these new chapters add to our story.
